At a glance
Douglas College is a public college in Metro Vancouver with campuses in New Westminster (next to New Westminster SkyTrain station) and Coquitlam. It offers diplomas and certificates, several bachelor’s degrees, university transfer courses and post-degree diplomas that are popular with international students who already hold a degree.
What it costs
Douglas describes its international tuition as among the more affordable in Canada, but it prices by program and credit. Rather than rely on third-party figures, use the college’s official tuition and fee estimator for your exact program and start term, then add:
- student fees and health plans
- books and supplies
- the U-Pass BC ($47.85 a month from September 2026)
- living costs — see the cost calculator
PAL and study permits
Most Douglas programs require a Provincial Attestation Letter, which the college issues after you accept your offer.
Post-degree diplomas and the PGWP
Post-degree diplomas are non-degree college programs. If you want a Post-Graduation Work Permit afterwards:
- you’ll need CLB 5 language results
- if you applied for your study permit on or after November 1, 2024, the program’s field of study must be on IRCC’s eligible list
- you only get one PGWP in your lifetime — if you already used one, a second program won’t give you another
Check the specific program against IRCC’s list before you enrol.
University transfer
Douglas offers university-level courses that can transfer to universities such as SFU and UBC. Check each course in the BC Transfer Guide, and see our Langara profile for how the transfer route works in general.
